I've never seen a better example of the type - perfectly struck from new dies, and perfectly preserved. Congratulations on that find!

Here's a well-worn coin of Domitian, minted in Ephesus, that has a nice green patina.

Here are two other "greenies" that I really like. The Elagabalus has more of an aqua/green patina which is my favorite color.

Both are nice examples of a green patina- the second one is bright like a neon green!

Wow @ancientone that is a crazy vibrant emerald green! I think it's very beautiful. One of the things I love about bronze coins are the variety of colors their patinas come in. It makes every coin unique. My two green coins are very dark in hand- under bright light they are a very dark green. They might belong in the Dark Money thread, but the pictures I have make them look more green.

Perhaps there is something in the soil or alloy that makes coins of Odessos a lighter green???

Green patina on copper alloy is nice and all, but how about some green patina on silver billon?

I like coins of Trajan (98-117), but the deciding factor when I bought this one was the green patina.

Did somebody say, Green Patina? Did some body ask if anybody here liked ice cream? Do I like Green Patina? Look at my avatar. Below are some of my favorite coins, all with some degree of green patination. For what this observation is worth, I have found that it is bronze from the mid First Century AD to mid Second Century AD where one can find the best green patinated coins. Perhaps that has something to do with the makeup of the bronze alloy being used.

Here are my favorites A Republic semi-uncia with mercury on obverse, ships prow on reverse, circa 200 BC. An as of Augustus from a Spanish mint, standing bull on reverse, ca, 18BC. An as or dupondius of Augustus and Agrippa, Nemausus Mint ca. 10 AD. A dupondius of Nero, seated Roma, ca. 65 AD. An as of Hadrian, Clementia standing, ca. 130AD and last a sestertius of a young Marcus Aurelius with Hilaritas on reverse, ca. 146 AD.
