My oldest son and I are putting together several state quarter collections from change. We're doing the US map, the Whitman P&D, and one more (Whitman???) P only. In all three sets we need the Maine quarter. Will you people in the states between Illinois (where we live) and Maine please allow some of the Maine state quarters to pass through. thank you

I think they forgot Maine altogether:eek:, as it was part of Massachusetts:D, so just put on of those in it's place, LOL:goofer:

Haha nice joke. I was just up at Bowdoin College in Maine and they have a House called the Massachusetts House. Just a little bit of history is great!

Did you by chance get a picture of it? I tried on Wikipedia, and nothing, same on Google. Nice piece of history!

I've had several in change here down in Denver over the last year.

I didn't even get any when I visited Denver for several days last month.

    The fun is the hunt.

It is kind of amazing with the huge mintages of state quarters that some are illussive. I have had very little luck finding Florida-P and Iowa-P quarters. In my area we always get more Denver coins than Philly coins, but I have found probably several rolls of D coins and mabey one coin each of the P Florida and IA coins.

Also interesting is that I'm not seeing a lot of Indiana quarters and that state is not that far away. I'm content to keep searching. It is teaching both me and my son patience.

Assuming no coins were lost, destroyed, or stuck in jars, how long would it take for the state quarters to be evenly distributed across the continental US?

In theory the coins (with the exeption of P vs D ) should have been pretty evenly distributed from the start. The coins go to banks all across the US on introduction.

Only if the banks order them. The banks here don't because they don't need more quarters very often. They've only ordered in the state quarters three or four times during the entire ten year period. The Alaska just came out and we probably won't see any here till next year. We haven't seen any of the Arizona quarters yet and only one of the New Mexico.

I've been lucky, most of the banks around here always get the new quartes in.

I haven't found a Florida-P either, but I haven't actively looked for it in quite a while...but still, I looked for it for a long time. Same thing with West Virginia-D, I just can't find one
