A widowed friend asked me to tell her what some of her coins are worth. They were collected years ago by her deceased husband. This Trade Dollar has been cleaned (the husband had stored it in a pvc flip). It is holed and has some scratches on the reverse near the hole. She needs money for an operation (I know, sounds like an old line, but in this case it is true, she has cataracts) and I thought I'd offer to buy this from her. What do you think would be a fair price to offer? I don't really need the coin, but I want to help her.
That poor lady has seen some abuse Having no knowledge with the series and just using the PCGS photograde as a baseline. I would say it is maybe G-VG details. Numismedia says a straight VG is in the $135 range. I don't think I would pay anywhere near that.
I have a few of them so it seems right to me. I have a nice one but I've never posted it. Maybe one day.
I need one for my son and my 7070. I don’t need anything crazy. This coin would probably be perfect if it wasn’t holed.
Honestly, I'd be happy just to have a decent example. OP's coin would be a decent example if I could get it at a decent price.
