    fairly easy.

I have about 8 coins I want graded and put in slabs. I plan on keeping them and passing them on to my children. I have a couple of questions; Can I send these coins to NGC or PCGC myself or do I have to go through one of their outside vendors (local coin shop etc...).

Second, is this a difficult process or is it basically fill out a form and send in the coins??

Thanks in advance for everyone's help with this.

Not sure about PCGS but with NGC you need to either be a member of their Collectors club which will allow you to do direct submissions, be a member of the ANA - and then you can submit or go thru a dealer. Myself I have a collectors club membership and can submit myself. So far my track record for 5 coin submissions is 4 Graded, 1 Body bagged due to "Cleaning".

Smaugy, for NGC, all you have to do is join eBay and you can do direct submissions from there.

First, visit the sites and determine how much it will cost you.
You may find that the cost is too high for the value of your coins.
On the other hand since you intend to pass them down through the family, cost may not be an issue for you.

See these TPGs. They are generally regarded as the best.

Just follow the instructions on the service you select.
If you don't understand, come back here or call them direct.

Both NGC and PCGS have Collectors Club options.

NGC's Collectors Society costs $99/year and includes 5 free submissions.

PCGS has three levels of their Collector's Club:

Silver ($49/ year, no free submissions)

    Gold ($129/year, 4 free submissions)

    Platinum ($199/year, 8 free submissions)

Here are the links for each:

    PCGS Coin Collectors Club

As others have stated, there are multiple options available if you want to have your coins graded. You just need to look over the various options and see which makes the most sense from both a collecting sense and an economic sense, then go with that.

Just checked the status of my submission to ANACS (I had some freebies from back when they changed ownership.)
Maybe it's because some of mine are freebies, but they aren't jumping through hoops to get it done.
    Estimate is almost 2 months.

Why do I keep hearing this?? Since when does being an eBay member mean you can do direct submissions? I need to see it in writing somewhere if you don't mind

My last two submissions to NGC have been through ebay. You can't check the status of an order, but other than that it works just fine.

SO Mark H, just having an ebay account affords you the status of being able to submitt a coin, without having to join NGC?

Is there a link on ebay or on the NGC website that you access this?
