IMG_20200301_145230261_HDR.jpg Hi this 1946 penny, be on rt appears to have a grease die in the 4, 6 of the coin. Can u elaborate on this? I know it's pretty beat up but I'd like to learn about environmental damage like the coin on left. Looks like a 1918.

Since the coin may have been in circulation for almost 75 years, it is hard to determine whether the weakness in the date is actually due to a grease-filled die or simply circulation wear. ~ Chris

I am thinking from the striations on the rim, that it is most likely PMD. But we really can't easily tell, because as you had already stated, this is a 75 year old coin.

I'm not clear on what you are asking. Environmental damage is any damage done to a coin, after it left the mint, due to the environment. Your first cent is corrosion probably from being buried in the ground and the other is simply heavy circulation wear, IMHO.
