Haleiwa. The coin isn't conterfeit, I have touched hundreds and hundreds of silver eagles, and this is by no way counterfeit. This eagle came out of a whole roll of silver eagles that I purchased, these coins are Considered "bullion" and purchased a such. If the eagle in the pictures look "frosty", that is because of the resolution % i scanned them with. Thanks for all the input
I did a search on google and found a couple that looked like your, but not as large. they all say struck through, though I found by typing in "lamination error silver eagle" on google lol, its the first link.
Hi, Misty1. Welcome to CoinTalk. You'll learn a lot here. I'm not quite sure what's going on with that coin. You've said that the exposed area is also silvery in color. Could you, maybe, take some more pictures at different angles to show the true color of the area of concern? If there was some cloth or foil on the planchet when it was stamped, it could have fallen away when traveling to a counter or to a bag. It sure looks like some metal has left the coin! This is a tough one but someone in CT will be able to answer this question. Bruce
