    Hello,
I recently listed some WW II German medals on Ebay and they were on for less than 14 hours when they were booted by Ebay. The reason being they had the natzi sign on them. In the few hours they were on there I had apx 20 watchers on each and the bids were going well but them BAM they were gone. I cant figure out why ebay boots medals from WW II with a swastika on it. I see items with swastikas on them for books and various items that never get booted. I dont understand why they were booted they are a part of world history (not saying I agree with them). So I am selling them with out ebay being involved. There was a close combat medal. a naval medal and a gold Mothers medal I placed a pic of them. I have also recieved alot of email from others saying they have also had problems with Ebay booting items they have attempted to sell while the same item they are selling are readily available to buy on ebay. Just wondered if anyone else has had this problem.

Thats kinda strange considering that hundreds of Nazi era Swastika coins are being auctioned in Ebay; atleast in its Indian portal. I guess they have restrictions with war medal but that doesn't make any sense.

Are you offering them for sale worldwide? if so then try relisting them but pointing out that you will not sell them to Austria/Germany or France also state that they are not illigal for sale where you live.
Contact Ebay with the last bit of information as well.

So, in a nutshell, it would only seem reasonably fair to assume they wouldn't accept any material from any war in history, as those guidelines fall into place. I wonder is patriotic tokens belittleing politicians would be classified as such, seeing as they promote hatred and intollerance?

What is going to happen is that these items will become harder to sell through mainstream means, in turn increasing the demand and raising the price. If the group(s) that complained enough to make e-bay stop allowing these sales begin cracking down on other auction sites, expect these items to start flipping over a higher sale price.

Ebay banning Nazi items is an old story.

This is easy. If you had people bidding on them, contact them on the side and make deals. I've done this several times and it saved me money. Sellers will typically take less if they get paid directly without having ebay and paypal take their cut. Start sending PM's.

Interesting. I'd rather they have sections for this kind of stuff with special access like the adult section than to block completely. I think it is a mistake to try to hide and deny it exists.

that's so stupid that they block it.

Who know's what craziness will occur if someone see's them!?!?

Even though the Swastika is considered Nazi it has been used by other countries as well including the American military. America only stopped using it when Hitler turned it into a sign of evil.

That's very interesting BioPirate. I have been to India a few times and you see it all over, mostly in temples. Definitely a shame what hitler did with it. (many of hitlers Swastikas are also slightly rotated... kind of ironic that he 'twisted' them)

    Wikipedia:

"Archaeological evidence of swastika-shaped ornaments dates from the Neolithic period."

"An ancient symbol, it occurs mainly in the cultures that are in modern day India and the surrounding area, sometimes as a geometrical motif (as in the Roman Republic and Empire) and sometimes as a religious symbol. It was long widely used in major world religions such as Hinduism, Buddhism and Jainism."

    Hello,
I sold the item by sending emails to those who were interested in the medals. I guess I saved some money on fees but still disagree with Ebay. Thanks for all the info.

eBay is the world's new police dog these days, you are told what or what you cannot sell, how you can sell it, how you can take payment, etcetera. Hopefully and mercifully soon people will realise that eBay has become the 800lb gorilla of inanity.

    Ebay - The Bully

I have had it with Ebay. If I buy something off Ebay I will mail the seller and ask if I can send an USPS money order. If I sell anything I will not take PayPal. I will not let Ebay bully me on how I conduct business. Basically, I have changed to www.coinbug.com to buy from and will soon be posting items for sale on this coin collector friendly site.

    That’s my two cents worth.

I have a couple of Winterhilfswerk books from 1938 that I wanted to sell somehow, they are of no interest to me, but I never sold them on eBay because of their BS rules that I can never keep track of. But feel free to sell porn and obscene or fake coins on there. That is okay.

Forgeries I can understand, but Porn? eBay has them under a CC-Protected area, buried deep inside one of the junk categories with alot of restrictions (so i've been told; ya can't use certain keywords in your listings for example).

So long as it's legit, Pron is okay. You don't have to look at it (well, eBay makes you go thru hoops if you want to look at it...)

The point is they can accommodate porn, but not Nazi junk.

With time people forget. The nazi Swastika should be banned for it was turned into the ultimate symbol of evil and just like there are those who thought the days of Russia being a threat was over this too can come back if not kept in check from the smallest measures to the largest.

I understand the human condition having a need for porn but I do not see it having a place on e-bay and do not understand why it is not regulated more to protect the victims of it.

As for e-bay I do not buy my coins from there. I am sure one can get great deals if one really knows how to grade a coin but who is to say you are going to get the coin shown in the picture anyway. Sure most is on the up and up but I do not want to deal with anymore hassels that I already have to deal with in life.
