Good thread. I have not found any good ones in circulation lately, but I do have about !/2 of a $100 dollar bag of pennies thrown back in the closet. I know there are rolls of wheaties in it and some A.U. memorial Lincolns that are dandies. Bought the bag years ago and have stayed to busy to go thru them!
Well the value of those coins can only go up with the price of copper on the rise and all so I guess you can consider it a long term investment!
Not my find. A friend was given it in change and asked if I wanted it. I had to think long and hard but I figured it wasn't a bad deal for a $1.
I picked up a box of halves yesterday and only found 8 silver ones - 2 64's, the rest 40%. The plus side was that at least they were in very nice condition (AUs). I was hoping for a few more from what I have been reading. Will probably try it once more in a few weeks to see if I do any better.
Rolled change from the soda fund's coffee can and found a 1997 Proof quarter. As you can see it's been pretty chewed up.
walked outside this a.m and found a 1951 Roosevelt dime on the sidewalk that crosses my driveway. Very strange as I live in a tract o fhome sbuilt in 1996.
I'm not a foreign coin collector, but was still amazing to be on the US east coast get a 1 Piso from the Phillipines in change. Here's a pict of one from a website: 1 Piso Threw me for a loop when I first found a date on both sides of the coin, and only 4 years appart (mines a 1997). Anyone know why the Phillipines did this?
KM#269, cu-ni, issued 1995-2001 (and maybe later - that's just where the latest Krause ends); no mintages given, all listed at $1 Unc., lower grades unspecified. The only thing Krause mentions about the double date is "Reverse: Bank seal, date 1993". Higher denominations also have the seal and the 1993 date, which must have some significance in the Phillipine banking system.
Addendum to #147: I wanted to get another set of eyes or two to make sure of what I was seeing. Along with the chewed up proof quarter I found a 1944 D/S penny in the soda fund change can. Here is the thread from the errors forum: http://www.cointalk.org/showthread.php?t=5526 Tony
I found a 2005-D California ALREADY yesterday. And out of 3 of the past 4 days, I have gotten an Arkansas D. Today I found 2 1964 Nickels too.
David Hall & PCGS. GDJMSP,that sounds very Irish,as the President of PCGS owns a dealership & sells coins below what the organisation that he is President of says it is worth. That is a very interesting situation. Aidan.
I got ten rolls of pennies from the bank yesterday and three were shotgun 05-d's and I found an 89D and 94D which are gem blazing bu coins. Looks like they were minted yesterday.
thought I would add to the thread found a 1960 D and a 1963 Washington Quarter and a 1911 D Lincoln the other day
Not half bad. I've pretty much given up on getting rolls of quarters since most are worn down horribly but the next time I go to the bank I may get one or two.
