Is there a reason NGC is making a distinction between the proof cents from regular proof sets and the silver proof sets? I was under the assumption it was the same coin?
Uh, what year? Last year you got different proof coins depending on the set you bought. Before that no difference. It would be more of a labeling gimmick than anything. The cent in a bag program the mint had.
Are you assembling a registry set at NGC for Lincoln cents? NGC says there is no price difference between the silver set and the regular proof set coins. Are you seeing price differences on eBay?
In 2019, the mint gave out bonus collectible Lincoln's. In the Regular Proof set a Proof 2019-W Lincoln was included. In the Silver Proof set a 2019-W Reverse Proof Lincoln was included and in the 2019 Uncirculated set a 2019-W Uncirculated Lincoln was included. For 2020 sets they will be giving out bonus Jefferson's. Never mind, I see you weren't talking about the West Point Lincoln. There is no distinction in price between the Proof Lincoln's from either the Regular or Silver Proof set.
If you are seeing a price difference it is because the two different labels represent two different points in the registry set. There is a huge difference in points between the two labels. Especially at the PF70UCAM level. You want the one that has the silver set label. NGC trying to promote labels. Pay extra for the special label get more registry points. Ok I think I understand now, so there is no difference between the two coins, that is they are both proof pennies from San Francisco, its just a distinction that NGC is making for the registry of that coin. If a collector is putting together their set, regardless of NGC, either one of those will suffice for the 2019 S proof coin?
They do it for the people who collect coins by label, got to have MORE labels. It's probably been a week since they added a new one. Yes either one will be fine unless you just have to have both.
They send a 2019 Lincoln proof cent W and a reverse Lincoln proof W ... which one went with what proof sets I’m not sure...
