    Yes, they struck the AV Mohurs in 1841/ before in 1835 for Williaam IV/ AV Mohur/ AV 2 Mohurs...

    All-righty. Let's visit Mexico! The Empire of Mexico! I bring to you an 1866 peso graced with the visage of Emperor Maximilian. Weird, huh? The US had an empire to its southern border twenty-six years after that 1820 cent.

    Do any of you know something about the mint mark, which is still used today? That M with an O above it. I know it signifies the mint in Mexico City, but where does it come from? I think it was used even in Spanish times. M probably means Mexico or Mexico City, but what's with the O above it? Probably something in Spanish I am not getting.

    Ooh we are in the US. I finally got a coin to play!

    I do not believe I have shared very many of my Morgan Dollars on CT yet so it's about time I posted a few.

    I think it is just Mo as in Mexico City. Not to confused with another city, but that is a guess.
