Strange crack accross the face of this Kennedy half.It is not raised and seems to have "fissures" at the ends.Could this have happened in the clad process? Does it make it worth getting graded? Very unusual and not sure where to go next to see if this gives it any value.

That kind of looks like a lamination crack. Close-up picture might tell more.

Here is a better description,as this is the best pics I was able to get w/my digital.Everything I read about die cracks was a raised line-usually originating from the edge of the coin. This is a deep groove that is rather smooth w/"forked" or "fissured" ends.It seems to be in the outer layers of the cladding only. The coin is a bit dirty, never been cleaned-The crack sort of relates to the half eliptical shape of the coin. I was hoping this had some simple explanation-if it was a common strike issue-and maybe thought that it had to do with the expansion /contraction of the two types of metals.Whatever the case-it makes it a unique coin-but does anybody think its uniqueness gives it any other value than that of a 1971-d kennedy half?

It appears to be a Lamination separation (peel)...otherwise known as a De-Lamination!
