ok I have this penny and I have income of SSD only and I was wondering, if, you think it's ok to send these (have more) pennies into ANACS for grading? I just can't afford the joining fee for NGC or anything like that OR do you think I should have it graded at all? ALSO is there something else that I need to look at on this penny for verification to see if it is what I THINK**** it is? Please help with all info. THANKS
I don't have the pictures of the penny yet I stored it.

Honestly, your best first move would be to post a picture here.

Welcome to Coin Talk. If you really have a copper 1983 Lincoln Cent it would be very valuable. Please post photos of it on a scale showing the weight of 3.11 grams. Without photos many members, including myself, will be very skeptical of your claim. As @furryfrog02 said, "Pictures or it didn't happen".
Also, you said "these". What else do you have?

Don't forget to show it on your jewelers scale so we can see the weight to 2 decimals.

    How accurate is your scale?
    Maybe you misread a 1982 as 1983.
It's unlikely that you have a copper 1983, while it is possible it is more
likely that some mistake has been made along the way.
    Clear photos on the scale.

I would say not to send it to a third party grader but find out from the folks here the most trusted coin shop or dealer in your city and take there. If they confirm you have something then have them send it to be graded on your behalf. Be prepared to pay a bit of money and wait. You can't just send it to a grading company in your own without first joining for a fee.

Conversely just post clear pictures of the obverse and reverse here and the good folks will tell you what you have.

Good luck on whatever you decide to do.

If you truly believe it does in fact weigh 3.11 grams on your scale, I would definitely verify the accuracy of the scale with a known 95% copper cent from pre-1982 before taking any further action.

You can with ANACS or ICG. Of course some people think the ONLY grading companies are PCGS and NGC. :)

And that might be a better route if the goal is just to verify authenticity first. Cheaper and easier to do on a fixed income.
