I got this coin in change today - given as a nickel. Nice pick up, but I have no idea what it is. I'm "assuming" it's Italian. Any information on the coin, possible value etc. would be appreciated.
It is a 1908 20 Centesimi from Italy. I doubt it is worth a lot but how often do you get a 100-year-old coin in change? Cool find. http://www.iltrogolo.it/attila/coins/VE_20_cent_libertas.htm
Thanks for the quick response, Hobo. And thanks for that link. Very short minting period. I love the coin. I still can't believe how I got this coin. Of course, it was a teenager who gave it to me. I'm guessing she received it and either wanted to get rid of it as soon as she could, or she had no idea it was even in the till. Either way, I'm not complaining.
Thanks, Hobo. Actually, that's a scan, believe it or not. The picture didn't come out too bad, but this coin looks a lot better in hand. I'll just put it away, and maybe someday one of my grandchildren will find it and try to pawn it off as a nickel when they get older.
