Having a brain fart tonight guys, I recently acquired a ton of unc rolls of 1960's and 1970's era lincolns, many still in original bank and fed reserve wrappers. Would the 1960 d small / large cent be found in a small date roll or a large date roll? Please help me.... like I said I am losing my mind tonight. Tom
Tom, If I am correct in the sequence of events, a Small Date Master Die was hubbed over (onto) a Large Date Master Hub Die thus result was the 1960-D "Small over Large Date" DDO Cent. Therefore, since the Die used would normally be considered a Small Date used to create Small date Cents, then one could expect to search a 1960-D "Small Date" Cent roll for the Variety. However, since most rolls of 1960-D Cents have been sorted to separate any possible mixed Small Date and Large Date Cents, then one could expect that it has been looked over for any Varieties! I hope for you that any searchers of the roll, were concentrating more on RPM Varieties and overlooked the "Small Date over Large Date" Variety! Frank
Hello, been away for awhile, about three months ago I went through four OBW 60D rolls I purchased new in 60. I had two of each. I found three d/d small /large coins in one of the small D rolls, the others yielded nothing. Normally if you truly have a cherry roll and find an anomaly the odds are good you will find more than one in that roll. Just from my own experience. By the way I thought they were about 64/65. I sent one to Dominion Grading to see how they would grade it before sending the other two to PCGS. The one I sent to DGS was about a point less in my opinion. They graded it a 63. I am hopping for two 65's when I send the others to PCGS next month. Good Luck.
