Competing sovereigns

I have two gold sovereigns - one which is from 1911, and the other which is from 1966. The 1966 one is slightly shinier than the 1911 one, but both seem in good condition.

Question: are they of identical, or near-equal value? Or would the 1911 one be more valuable?

Also - this may be a more stupid question, but how does one tell the difference between a half-sovereign and a sovereign?

the size half soverigns are smaller. the 1911 is the first of george 5 all things being equal they would be worth more but i would have to look up my refrence books and i dont have them any more so i will wait for someone to come along unless you want to wait 3 months for an answer :D

If both coins were in the same condition, the 1911 would be worth a bit more. Way to tell them apart is size, 1/2 is 3.994gm 21mm, sovereign is 7.9981gm and 23mm.
