I have a 1998 penny with a die chip? in the second 9 in the date. The 1957 has the B in Liberty half filled in. and the 9 in the date looks like it has a folded 9 or is it filled in? Cheryl. Be home after doctors.

The 1957 penny sat in a cardboard holder for many years. The back as turned brown. I took the photo inthe sun.

It appears (to me at least) that the 1957 cent with die chips were pretty common. If I'm wrong please correct me. Thanks

    Hi Cheryl,
Nice 57D... great coloring. Nice find!
I have oodles of 57's with die breaks in the devices but do not have this particular
    combination.
The 98 is nice... guess I better keep searching.

Very nice, I keep all chips and cuds too. Curious as to what is going on with the Y in liberty in the first pic. Any ideas?

rockdude, your right. I would say 56, 57 and 58 cents had allot die chips. Cheryl and Jeankay you may also want to check the word liberty for the BIE cents. They where some what common during the mid 50's to the mid 60's.

Yes Lou... sure am finding a lot of the BIE's, too.
    So far:
    5 of bu 57D's.
    4 of 57D circs.
    6 of the 57P.
    5 of the 55D.
and 1 56P with the BIE and a filled 9.
These are just the ones I have not photographed, catalogued and stored in flips.
There are a lot of filled letters and numbers in those years, too.

The "Y" suffered Post-Mint damage which also affected the right end of the cross bar of the "T"!

Okay, so they snuck up on me and changed the coins from side by side to a list.
Argh! Just read the dates in the order they are in the actual post and it comes out okay.
