I really enjoyed looking up the historical depictions on these notes! The Burmese notes, from the Japanese occupation, depict the Ananda Temple. Architecturaly, the temple is very cool. Then factor in the historical importance, and it just got better. .. for me anyhoot lol The Cambodian notes were equally as cool in my book. All the notes i posted from this country had some cool historical info. The 1 note, P-7d depicts a lake. Based on what Wikipedia said about the lake... it provides about 60% of the entire populace protein intake!!! in ONE lake.... And then the note, P-8c is just plain cool! The stone carving showing the statue... well, i just think its awsome None of the notes are high dollar notes, but certainly some of the coolest i have seen in a day or two Links: Burma - added 5 Japanese occupation notes P-14 (a or b, not sure which), P-15b, P-16a and P-16b and lastly 17b. Cambodia - Added P-7d, P-8c, and P-16a Thanks for looking
Once again great looking notes and both lots are from countries with a very interesting history, If I had to pick though I would go with the Cambodian some of the imegry on there notes is fantastic Keep them comming mate :hail:
Very nice and interesting notes.I didn't know that Japan issued occupational currency in countries other than the Phillipines. I've got a long way to go.... John
I am not the most knowledgeable person in numismatics so, i wasnt aware the extent of the Japanese issuance of currency when they 'conqured' a country. I knew of the notes issued in Oceania, because i HAVE one posted on my site lol I wasnt aware Burma had them untill i started looking through a lot i won. At first, i thought they were part of the Oceania series, but those notes arent in Rupees. So it took some digging to figure out they were from Burma Actually, i just typed in to google what it said on the obverse of the note ... and a search result had a note from Burma for sale on Ebay ... so i looked in my books under Burma... and sho' nuff'! There they were Thank goodness for google lol
Here is a list of the ones I know about Burma Japanese Occupation Currency 1942/44 Dutch East Indies Japanese Occupation Currency 1942 Hong Kong Japanese Occupation Currency Malaya Japanese Occupation Currency 1942/45 Phillipines 3 series French Indochin Series 1 1938/40 Series 2 1942 Ociana 1942 China 1938-1944 Japanese military occupation Plus there were a number of Japanese puppet banks operating in China
Nice addition DJ. I had the opportunity to trade some of these but a friend of mine told me not to as counterfeits of these are rampant. Any tips on how to distinguish the duplicates from real ones.
no idea kidromeo, really! For all i know i could have fakes Every country has fakes that run wild, and i dont have any way of knowing a real note from a fake - unless, it is a well known fake that is published and all.... So i choose not to think about it. No sense in worrying about something i cant yet control. I dont buy too many notes worth money ... i think the most epensive world notes i bought are the 500 and 1000 rupee notes from india and those are coming from a source i trust lol, so i choose not to worry about fakes too much ... if i did, i would be too scared to buy anything, and then when woudl i have fun??? Now if i reguraly bought notes worth more money then the ones i currently get .. i would be moe into knowing which were real or fake ie. possibly certified. Does anyone know of a book that deals with world fake notes??
Thanks to your advice of collecting bank notes by governors signature my Indian collection has grown almost threefold.LOL My town is flooded with fake currency of 100, 500 and 1000 Rupees denomination mainly due to its proximity to Bangladesh border as fake note smuggling is rampant here. I'm the cashier of my shop and every now and then a customer pulls out a fake note. So I can't help but always worry about fake notes.LOL Here is the link to Indian bank note's security feature: http://www.rbi.org.in/currency/Security Features.html
cool site its amazing the technology that can be put on paper currency! Im glad you can easily tell the fake notes from the real ones At least i can be safe knowing what i have I will have to check with the notes i currently have, and compare them against the security features on that page. I really hope i dont have any fakes lol Of course, i would keep the fake (and lable it as such) but then i would also have to look for a real one .... im picky like that
