I recieved this note the otherday, and i have been having a tough time trying to attribute it! I cant even find the town it was issued in Mostly because i dont understand German, and cant seem to find the right word to translate. Normally, if i look up enough words in the book, 1 of them eventually tells me that is the town. so PLEASE, if anyone can read enough to tell me the town, i can look it up from there!!! As with every other time THANKS!!!!
HOT DANG is that what that says? lol For the life of me, i could not figure out what Gottweig was. I figured it was a G and an O, but then i was thinking maybe an I and who knows lol. I looked under GOI and GO under the cities list .... never would have thought it was under F for Furth thanks!!
I looked in my book, 'A Guide and Checklist World Notgeld 1914-1917 and other Local Issue Emergency Money, 2nd Edition' by Courtney L. Coffing', and all i found listed under Austria was Furth, and in Germany they had a Fuerth and a Furth/Walde listed. Is the note listed above from Austria, or another country? a google search for Furth came up with the German location, and Furth Bie Gottweig came up with Austria. Being its denominated as 20 Heller, it must be in Austria ... so is it possible the book is mising the info for Furth Bie Gottweig, or is the listing for Furth the same thing??
Daggarjon, would this be of any help. http://cgi.ebay.at/Notgeld-%D6-Furth-G%F6ttweig-Serie-rosaviolett_W0QQitemZ350089131053QQcmdZViewItemQQimsxZ20080822?IMSfp=TL0808221320r18838 Lou
Here's one that has more of a discription of your notgeld except that's in German also. http://cgi.ebay.at/10-und-20-Heller-FURTH-BEI-G%C3%96TTWEIG-1920--%22UNC%22_W0QQitemZ170249775802QQcmdZViewItem?IMSfp=TL080812112a413 Lou
not really except it made up my mind to just use the 'Furth bei Gottweig' designation regardless of whether or not its in the book. It is an actual city, so maybe it was just left out of the book by some odd occurance. Thanks
