Sogdian coinage (now Kazakhstan). AE Chach, Kabarna, about 600 AD. Obv. Tired old horse trudges to the right under crescent moon with dot. Kz. Tamgha nr. 2 (hook flower). 18 mm, 1.86 gr. Shagalov & Kuznetsov 74-76, group 2 nr. 8 (version 1, the heavier variant).

This is a bronze coin of Alexandria Troas, a town in the upper west of Asia Minor, now Turkey, near Byzantium. Like you may read in this thread, it is not just a horse grazing, but it looks as if it has found something. And like our very knowledgeable member @Jochen1 has stated, this might point to a founding myth of the city of Alexandria Troas. Maybe the horse found a plant, or maybe a spot of something - a spring?



AE19 Gallienus, Alexandria Troas. Obv. Laureate and cuirassed bust right, Rev. Grazing horse to the right. COL AVG (though it somehow looks as if AVG is mirrored)/ TRO. 18 mm, 3.44 gr.
