Mine have always had coins in them. Sorry Spider, I just couldn't resist. By lint do you mean embedded in the paper or stuck to the coins?
This has always led to a lot of debate. I used to beleive that I needed to remove coins from the paper rolls as soon as I got them for fear of discoloration. I was told by one dealer to put them into plastic tubes right away. I had another, more experienced dealer tell me to never remove them and leave them in for future value (original packaging debate). I would think that the Mint's wrappers are as safe as any could be. My practice now is to leave everything in the original packaging except when broken out to give as gifts. The only coins I DO remove from the paper wrapper and store in tubes is the SACS since I discovered that after only 1 year they start to discolor (I'm not sure this is from the paper though, Sacs seem to like to discolor no matter where they're at). I place my rolls (wrapper and all) into sealed, square plastic coin tubes for storage. I haven't had any problems with the coins, so far.
