I've got two quarters and I'm sure I'll see more with broken dies or what do you think these are from?

Also one of the coins has these marks around the rim.

Hard to say. It looks like the letters struck up and were broken off after striking. Have you been chisling away on your coins?

I forgot to mention this is the Georgia quarter and those letters are pressed into the reverse. So I guess they would be filled with some material or formed by a broken die.

Very good, If the letters are incuse on the coin then they were raised on the die. And they have broken off the die.

    Hi Rockdude,
    Exceptional picture! of the anomalies.
That edge 'strike' looks almost like lettering that missed the mark, but I cannot think of any lettering on quarters that would be that small and curved. It is interesting what can happen to a coin when no one is looking.

The first quarter picture also has a die crack on the obverse.
