Hello, I'am a Dutch coincollector and collect gold and silver duit's from the Netherlands. Official these duit's were made from copper but some were made from silver are gold for rich people in the 17 and 18 century. These duit's are rare and maybe there are collectors in the USA who also collect these coins. You can also watch my site http://members.home.nl/cvanderley With kind regards, silverduit. I hope my english is not to bad
Silverduit, I'm also an avid collector of gold Netherland (Low Countries) coins. I do not own a gold duit ... yet, but will add one to my collection one day. I have several gold ducats, gold from Flanders and Brabant, and gold gulden. I have a very special Utrecht gold coin coming in a few weeks that I'm delaying announcing/showing pics until it is in my hands. You have a great collection .. I particuliarly like those gold specimans depicting a Lion and the mesh belt !!! That's the type for my collection Again welcome to the site and please do not be a stranger and visit often.
Hello everyone, Thanks for the hospitality. Silvereagle 82; You also have a great collection especially the double ducat 1807 The gold duit 1702 from Hollandia shows a ascending lion within a fence and not a belt If I had him double you would get one from me but I'm sorry This is a great forum and I will visit often!! Regards; silverduit.
"The gold duit 1702 from Hollandia shows a ascending lion within a fence and not a belt " Thank You for pointing that out .... I'm learning things everyday. That is what I love about world coins ... so much about each coin that I don't know and thankful that good people around the world like you are willing to share your knowledge !! GDJMSP did you know that ?? "If I had him double you would get one from me but I'm sorry " Let's just leave it as "you owe me one"
Hi, I bought some coins on ebay recently: including a gold coloured duit (Utrecht 1790) which you might be able to help me with. Weighs 3.12g (c.f. 2.84g copper: 3.50g gold) Came in a silver mount with watch glasses encasing the coin front and rear Shaved at the edges (presumably by the jeweller who set it in the mount) Gouged (near stad). Black shiney metal in gouge (not copper red) with gold flecks The helpful ebay seller told me it came with a lot of medals he wanted. In the lot he didn't explicitly mention this coin 1790 Utrecht gold duit isn't in Krause Worn (in addition to damage) : were these pieces in circulation or were they collectors items? Feels real but is it? Thoughts welcome. Thanks
