Have you found any silver dollars at banks in the last 20 years? 40% Ikes, Peace, Morgan? Anything? I've never been able to even find a full roll of Ikes anywhere to even check for any 40%s. Any loose ones in their tills are only normal clad. I've never come across any Peace or Morgan dollars at the bank.
I've gotten probably around $1500 in Ikes over the last 8 years of searching. Those netted me 2 1972P T2's. I got my first Peace from one of the tellers at our main dump bank just last week. She and the rest of the tellers got donuts this morning
I've had tellers tell me about getting Morgan dollars. It's not like tellers can overlook them at this point -- there's not even a space in their trays for them. I've come across a few Ikes from time to time. Tellers always seem eager to get rid of them. Never any silver, but out of the few dozen I've gotten in the last ten years, I wouldn't expect any to be silver, just based on probability.
It is the time we live in. When I was in grade school and high school (before the 1964 change) we could get Peace and Morgan any time we had a dollar to exchange with the teller. I took every opportunity to do that. I haven't gotten one for many years.
My only silver dollar score from a bank was at a no-account bank in my Mom's city. I went in asking for halves - none. I then asked for large dollars. The young lady said she had one and started to hand it over. I could see it was an Ike with a silver rim, my heart started beating wildly, lol. Then she remembered to ask me if I had an account there. I said, "No, but I am visiting my Mom and we go through coins together". Which was true, by the way. She looked over at the much older and dour Head Teller and asked if she could sell it to me. The HT looked at the coin and grudgingly said it was okay. Yippee-Yo-Kiyay! I have found a total of 4 silver dollars in the wild: 2 Morgans, 1 Peace, & 1 Ike.
