Damaged!! Whizzed???Help! First. This 1972 T2 Ike dollar has scatches on the reverse accross the earth and on the obverse to the right of the date. Would a TPG 'body bag' this because of damage 'scratched'.
Would it be body-bagged - yes, I think it would be, for harsh cleaning and the scratches on the reverse. But is that a whizzed coin - no.
Thanks, but which coin are we talking about these are 2 different coins. a 72 Type2 and a 1972D w/clip.
There are two different coins - the first would get a body-bag because of the damage. The second coin had something done to it to clean it, but I am not positive it was whizzing.
The first coin is scratched and would likely not holder for that reason. The second coin looks cleaned/polished, not whizzed. All IMHO and respectfully submitted...Mike
DOH ! Ya gotta pay more attention Doug I think the one with the clip has been harshly cleaned. The other one has been scratched on the reverse. I think both have a good chance of being body-bagged.
I wouldn't conclude that the second coin was cleaned. The hidden areas in the date and motto look the same as the field overall. I think it just looks weird because of the lighting.
First would bb at any top tpg in my opinion. But the second I think may make it. these lines are very parrall which I have been told is often seen with die polish lines...but I am no expert. On another note, the clip looks a little suspect. I have a couple clips and have seen many others. The shape looks like it could be post-mint. Also, the clips I have seen normally break off nicely, yours looks jagged. I am no expert on this one either however, and maybe this is fine.
