Here's and 1805 half cent that I picked up today at the local monthly show. I had just finished my 3rd rotation around the room and was going to leave without buying anything when this jumped up and bit me. I looked at it for a bit and bargained with the seller and got it for $50. Not a bad buy for a coin that to me looks to be VG-8, even with the rim ding.

Is there a scratch near the last A in america, and a minor dig between the top leaves on the wreath? Either way, seems like a reasonable price. It doesn't look cleaned or altered in any way, and it's hard to find them without small rim dings.

The dig is there yes, that apparent scratch near the A is part of a ginger colored dog hair from my kids' dog. Those things get everywhere.

Nice coin. While I see the rim ding it does not appear to detract from the coin. Very nice.

Any 200+ year old US coin for $50 seems fair to me. Congrats!
