So is it official there will the 4 new designs in 2009 or is Dansco just hoping? I ordered a supplement page for my Lincoln book and there are places for 12 cents in 2009!
2009 is going to be the 100th anniversary since the lincoln cent was created... this is the only fact I know...i've heard speculation as to commemoratives, switching from zync to steel... etcetcetc... also I wonder how the release will effect the value of 1909 coinage

This is not an if or a maybe - the law was passed and it dictates what will happen. Yes there will be 4 new designs.
I actually read an idea in numistmatic news the other day about this. Someone suggested we introduce a 2 cent coin and only mint half a billion cents. Keep the collectors happy, and dont lose too much moiney in the process.
