We live in such a mobile age. This is one of those odd questions that crosses my mind from time to time. I am not a collector of circulating coinage. However it seems I see as many Denver minted coins as I do Philadelphia in my change, though that's just an observation and I live about as far east as a fellow can live without being in the ocean. Are Denver minted coins only shipped to the western states and conversely the same for Philadelphia? Meaning that I only see "D" mint coins in my pocket because some weary traveler makes his way east and spent it?

Denver is mainly Midwest and west while Philadelphia is the east coast. I quess more people travel to the east, mainly downndouth, for the warmth. It takes time for me so see D minted coins in PA.

I live on the west coast and it is uncommon for me to see Philadelphia minted coinage.

I see a good mix of both in Michigan. The Ds start to appear first after each new year though.

The coins are shipped from the mint to the contracted coin terminals in large ballistic nylon bags (about 1 ton each). As such, with transportation costs, it's not surprising that each mint serves the area closer to it.

East Coaster here, near DC. I don't start seeing the year's Denver mints until towards the end of the year.

Basically Philadelphia distributes to Federal Reserve district 1 thru 6 and Denver to districts 7 thru 12. If an area near one of the borders needs something and their local Federal Reserve branch is out they will sometimes get a shipment from a branch on the other side of the border. Other than that mixing of distributions is by a slow diffusion through armored car services and/or spending by travelers.

Look where Louisiana is. Half the state is in District 6 supplied by Philadelphia, and half is in District 11 supplied by Denver.
