I recently went through some things my mother left after crossing over in 2013. I've always been fascinated by coins and especially vintage coins. I came across this 1922 Peace Dollar and want to learn what I can about it. On the face, neck at the hairline, and in the hair are strikes resembling the tips of the sun rays. Also, I noticed the "S" and the "T" in "TRVST" are almost gone but theres no wear on the coin there. The "T" is also tilted, like from a die adjustment (maybe). Should I keep looking for its value ? Is it an error coin ? I would appreciate any input. Thanks.
Welcome to Coin Talk. You should post pictures of the whole coin and both sides of the coin so it's easier for people to see.
Your coin was hit by another reeded edge coin. It also has a lot of circulation wear and tear. And a worn die was used. Not a die adjustment. Not a mint error. Also.. Create your future coin questions over at the Error Coins forum and not this forum. The General Discussion forum is only for Non-coin related subjects. Bag marked from another coin. The missing letters you mentioned are from a grease or debris filled Die. Both are common as is this date. Value is around $20.00. Welcome to CT.
