    Howdy,
I've moved your thread here so more people will see it.

If you can post photos of both sides of your coin it will really help the guys here tell you more about the coin and value.

    Welcome to the forum.

And, odds are (say: 99.9999999999999%) that you have a trick coin.

You say double denomination, is it a dime on one side and the cent on the other?

    Good luck.

Well the good news is that it looks real! These are faked quite a bit and so that is the good news!....in fact...I don't know any bad news!!!

I would suggest getting this graded and slabbed. You might want to find a coin dealer near you that could send it to either PCGS or NGC. These are the ONLY two I would send such a coin to. The cost for such a thing can range from $20-$100+ depending on the speed that it is sent...and how many coins the dealer sends at the same time.

There will be some other guys stop in that will be able to help some more!

Thats nice, appears authentic. I would have it slabbed. ANACS is pretty good with error attribution. As far as a value, double demonination errors are worth more as they are rare. I think the redbook may list a rough value. If it had a complete date it would be worth even more.

Here are a couple more pictures of the dime/penny. Thanks for the info so far. I will take your advice and take it to a dealer to get graded. I have seen a few others on line but this one seems symetrical in that you can see Roosevelt at one angle and Lincoln on the other. Thanks for the help. Bob

I would ask some questions - first of all it appears that the coin was struck as a cent first because of the legend on Lincoln's head. So if that is true, why was a cent silver colored ? Then I would ask why is there copper showing through the silver color ?

It looks to me Doug, that the Dime was struck first....wouldn't the detail on the dime be alot stronger if it was stuck last?

Also---the first set of photos doesn't show what looks like copper in the last one....maybe a glare...

If the dime was struck first, then why does the motto obliterate Lincoln's head ?

Yes, it could be glare in the last pic. It could also not be glare and be copper - look at the angle of the first pic.

Also look at the reverse, ONE DIME is definitely on top.

So where'd you get this coin? I'd like to hear the story behind the find.

I agree that the coin does not look authentic. However, for $40 or so, you can send it in and find out. If it is authentic, that's quite a find, and a superb conversation piece. Welcome to cointalk by the way. :hail:

    Lincoln/Roosevelt dime penny

Hi again. I had a few inquiries about the history of the coin. As far as I know, my wife or daughter got it in change in West Lafayette Indiana in the 90's. My wife insists that it was around 1994 the year my daughter would have been a Freshman at Purdue. The date, though looks to be a 6 or an 8. I have included a few more photos. Any guess on what date in the 90's it might be? Also someone asked if the copper was showing through...it's not and must be a photo light reflection. thanks again for your expertise. Bob

The date appears to me to be a 1990-P.

There are some error experts on this site, maybe they will see this post. It looks real to me, but I am only seeing pictures. If fake, it's a good one.
