Here we go again... looks like some possible doubling on the obverse. The word AMERICA on the reverse as well as the whole right 1/3 of the reverse around the right of the bust looks like it’s got some issues... checkout the initials.
Well, it's not trash. It's worth 1 cent. I don't see any doubling you're talking about. Looks like a normal circulated cent to me. You could be seeing die deterioration.
I looked on copper coins and variety vista and there is nothing like your coin listed. Nothing in Red Book also. Sorry Just a common Zincoln
The 6 looks like it took a small hit. Not seeing anything on LIBERTY. The reverse is struck using a worn die. Notice the weakness in the designers initials and letters in AMERICA. IGWT might have a little mechanical doubling or die deterioration doubling. Notice how the side of the W is thinner than a normal letter while the "doubled" area is flat. That's a characteristic of MD. Please be aware that members don't always have the time to type a detailed explanation to every question. However, when you find multiple members telling you the same thing, there is a high probability that they are giving you correct info. If somebody posts an incorrect answer, trust me, it will be jumped on quickly.
I need more pictures of the zinc rot, the split plating and the worn off copper showing the zinc core underneath before I make a decision. on the other hand ... I don't need more pictures.
I think some folks look way to hard hoping to find something that isn't there and everything that looks a little out of the ordinary is an error. It would help if people would use: www.coppercoins.com www.lincolncentresource.com http://varietyvista.com http://doubleddie.com Red Book And educate themselves more, it would make the hobby more enjoyable. Not trying to be rude or anything but there are a lot of very knowledgeable members on here that know much more than myself. And when they are ask to help then the one who has asked for that help disagrees with them then there is no need to ask the question in the first place when you already know the answer.
I agree, and I commend you for offering research material so that people can actually educate themselves instead of posting the same kind of coins and asking the same kind of questions, over and over, again. Education, of the interested, is what this site is all about, NOT giving the same answers to the same people over the same photos of the same coins, over and over again. That's my opinion, and I'm sticking to it.
