CEDF1798-0E23-4327-978A-D54AC9493096.jpeg I don’t really spend my change, I just break bills and add to it. For stuff that I don’t put into a holder, I keep them in old pill bottles and whatnot. I keep pennies separated by year, dimes by the decade, nickels I just throw in a bottle til it’s full and then get a new bottle, and quarters (which I do spend when I need to) in their own bottle, then my half dollar and dollar coins in their own bottle. What about you guys?
Again, this is just stuff that isn’t special, I’ve looked at it and could either tell off the bat it’s nothing or I’ve posted it here and was told it’s damaged/worn die/told to spend it. Thanks for always taking your time to share your knowledge, this is a great community!!

I don't save all of my change, per se. However, I do sort it into various containers, and when I feel like it, I will put them into rolls to take to the bank. Pennies are put into a large glass container that holds enough loose coins for 20-30 rolls (and I throw my wallet on top of them). I use (empty) cottage cheese containers, one each, for nickels and dimes. I cut a slot in the lids to insert the coins like you would with a piggy bank. Quarters are put into a dish, and I use them for laundry. ~ Chris

I hoard all my change too.
My pre 1998 quarters go into Jelly Jars. It fits exactly $50 per jar.
All other modern quarters go into just "what ever" plastic container I use.

The dimes and nickels go into plastic ammo boxes.
The pennies go into jelly jars too but they are separated by decade, and then pre-post 1982.

I also have a bunch of hoarded change from before I separated everything and those are in large metal boxes, rolled, old 1970s flavored coffee tins, round chewing tobacco (not mine) tins, plastic bags, small boxes, etc.

I take all the change that is in my pocket at the end of the day and put it into a cleaned mayonnaise jar that my wife keeps next to her computer. Oh yeah, I look at them to see if there is something significant and keep those. The rest go into the jar. What my wife does with the coins, I have no idea.

This is what I was thinking. I figure you would all look at your change before dumping it a container. I'm too busy working through the coins I have to worry about what I have in my pocket. At one time I was looking at pocket change, but then everyone here was saying you can't strike it rich in pocket change, so I gave it up! Threw the book away, too.

Oh, you can, just like you can strike it rich playing the lottery. It's just not a good investment of time, because the odds against you are so high.

I store my circulated 90% coins in plastic tubes, coin boxes and 3 gal. heavy duty plastic totes (Rubbermaid Roughneck)
A full tote (three dime boxes full) weighs about 45 lbs, just about my limit for lifting and schlepping around :depressed: - the totes (mine are dark gray) are plain looking, stackable and inconspicuous, enabling hiding large amounts of silver coins and bullion 'in plain sight' - my gold bullion coins and pre-1933 eagles are stashed away at my bank in a safety deposit box.

I'm curious as to how many pennies are in your "Wheat" bottle?

A friend of my daughter hoarded these over the years and wasn't sure of how to dispose of them, so I offered to help. When I do something with them, I'll post the results.

I'm storing all my spare change in various piggy banks and cyliners and ceremonial glasses/jars/etc.....gonna cash 'em all out next December/January for FUN and spend it on some gold coin.

Should have enough for 1/2 ounce or so, maybe even a 1 oz. gold coin.

If you’re asking me, I’d say probably around 75... the bottle is 3/4 full

Wow - that's a lot of wheaties from change. In the last 3 years, I've only got 2! Hahaha. And that was during the Great American Coin Hunt promotion.

All my change and dollar bills I put into a giant Sharif Porky Pig bank that I have. At the end of the year in Dec. I open it up and use it for Christmas gifts. I usually wind up with around $500.

I'm in the process of removing my coins from the tubes into 2x2s so I can see them better. Since I don't quite have the hoard some of you have, it should be doable.
