US Mint Stops Production Of 2008 Proof ASE's

    I dont know if this would even be considered news but I just got off the phone with the US mint.They told me that they have stopped production of the 2008 Proof Silver American Eagles-
    They are having a shortage of the planchets & will be using them for the bullion coins rather than the Proofs-

    So if you have these they just might go up in value due to this-
    ..... or the mint could change their mind like they have done so many times before & get the probelm fixed. But for now thats the news I have heard.

    I never beleive a word I hear from the mint. They are, after all, part of the government

    what is the differents between bullion coins and Proofs ?

    mintage quite high

    mintage at over 700,000 for american eagle silver proof is considered very high as compared to other years of that series. don't make a mistake. the mint stop it. mainly because the price is quite old and never adjusted recently. check the w unc silver eagle at $25.95. the proof series should have been $33.95 or $35.95 each.

    Bullion are just regular one ounce silver.
    Proofs are highly polished planchets, made for collectors.
