I came across this 1982 D Small Date and when I took a picture of it to view it closer, I noticed the VDB initials. Though I know they are all supposed to have the initials on the shoulder, I have not ever been able to see it this clear. Without weighing this (as i don't have a coin scale) I am pretty sure this is the clad version but if anyone sees anything else interesting I would be very appreciative for the insight as well as an idea if this is even worth anything. Thanks ahead of time for the help!!!
yours is a Small Date 1982 D copper plated zinc cent. You can see a lot of zinc through the 8 micron thin copper plating on it.
I apologize for the verbiage misuse of clad rather than copper plated. I was fairly certain this was not a true copper penny. Is there any significance of the ability to see the VDB so clearly?
