It appears to commemorate the town of Pappenheim, Germany. I believe it is gold because it was in a binder with just the gold coins in my late fathers collection. The reverse actually looks like some of the pictures of the town you can see online. But I can find nothing online about this piece. Any help would be appreciated !
Nice looking medal! I would take it to your local coin shop or jewelry store just to find out if it's solid gold 22k, 10k or whatever. I would want to know but that's just me!
Than you - now I know it’s likely a commercial token from a health spa in Pappenheim. One step closer. But if it turns out to be gold, that would be a real surprise for what appears to be a promotional item. How interesting - I really want to get to it’s roots !
It appears to be about the size of a half dollar, if it's gold it will weigh about 17 grams. I'd say it is a plated souvenir token of Pappenheim, which was a "health resort".
Do you have the weight and diameter? Even if it is gilded, your Dad had an Eye. It's very cool that you have taken the time to go through his collection and get to appreciate it the way that I am sure he did.
