It appears to me that the 8 took a hit but it's really difficult to tell as the entire obverse was minted upside down.
Well it may have been a curio to you, but to a coin collector it was worth a $50.00 bill.I'm glad I kept it now
I went to a local dealer to buy some 2x2 cardboards to put some coins in and I seen a older coin with the same defect and asked him about it and he said for me to bring it in so he could look at it and when I did he offered me $50.00 for it so I took his offer
Did you sell it through If a dealer bought a damaged coin from you for $50, i wouldn't trust his trust his opinions of recommendations. However, if you have a little knowledge, you may be able to cherry pick some nice stuff because it sounds like he isn't the sharpest dealer sharpest
Maybe the pictures was to show there was no metal there to begin with and that was the best angel to show that
Wouldn't a damaged coin have some kind of metal there to show it was struck by something? I have other coins where you can clearly see the metal that was there is pushed over
That was intended to be a personal joke between me and Mr. P. Anyway, you need to provide a better close-up of the first "8". It could be nothing more than damage just like the "I" in LIBERTY. ~ Chris
