    Hello everyone
A while back I had got around 200 dollars in halves from the bank. I was looking to find silver but only found a few 40 percent Kennedy's. So I deposited all but about 5 rolls back in the bank. Earlier today I was looking at a few of these and noticed that an 1982p Kennedy seems to have doubling of all the letters in DOLLAR . It's impossible to notice unless viewing it under a 10 x loop. So is this common and what is it called ? I know nothing about error and varity coins. Any info would be great. Also since I have like 100 of these Kennedy's what are the things I should be looking for.

Doubling on DOLLAR? 99.9% chance its machine doubling which ran rampant on the CnClad Kennedy Half Dollars.

As for what to look for? Why doubling of course! But true "die" doubling and not doubling made during the minting process.

1971-D has some really nice doubled dies. Look at "WE TRUST" on the obverse. Some DDR coins also exist with a strong split on the last "S" in STATES.
Some of the WE TRUST DDO's for 1971-D can be found in 1971 Mint Sets.

1972 also had a really nice Doubled Die Obverse (DDO). Again, look at "We Trust"

1972-D has a No FG (designer initials) on the reverse. These are quite scarce.

1973-D has an easily recognizable DDO and 1974-D has probably the BEST DDO of all.

1977-D also has a nice DDO

There are many, many minor DDO and DDR coins but you'll have to look closely.

Whenever I search Kennedy rolls, I always pull out and silver (obviously) but I also pull out coins from 1971, 1972, 1973, 1974, 1977, 1980, 1984, 1989 as these years have either doubling or RPM's or Missing designer initials.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention, the 1982 P & D Kennedy';s have a No FG coin but they are way more common than the 1972-D's and in much better condition.

    Good Luck.

Thank you. I will pull out the dates you mentioned and maybe I will find something. Now that I know what to look for. The coin I mentioned does look like Machine doubling I just didn't know if that was common or not. It seems like you about covered it. I appeticate you taking the time.
