I don't have many, but here is a 1979P Wide Rim found CRHing.

This is one of the most pleasing coins to look at that the mint has come up with. I would rather have these than the current "gold" dollars. Very fine design.

She certainly wasn't a "looker" but she was a pretty awesome woman. And I agree, I would rather see something like this rather than another dead president.

These coins actually look like "legal tender" rather than carnival tokens. They have a little weight to them. They feel good.

These do come in PL, occasionally. Both the 99P and 99D are available in PL. Here's my 66PL:

I do like the reverse design, especially when it has strong black and white cameo contrast:

An SBA dollar thread without any negative comments!?!?!?!? What's going on? Am I on the right forum?!??! :D

Though horribly ineffective monetarily, the SBA is probably my favorite modern coin. It first arrived in circulation when I was very young and I used to carry one around in my pocket. It was a complete novelty and I really didn't like to spend them unless I absolutely had to. So perhaps I contributed to its failure as a conduit of commerce?

My wife and daughter owned several beauty shops back then. My wife brought home every one she got and I put them in a coffee can. They are a very classic design. One of my favorites.

A proof, something acidic fell on this one just below WE.
No doubt the reason for its color. IMG_0003 (2).JPG IMG_0004 (2).JPG

To keep the positivity flowing on this thread (how long can it possibly last? :D), here are all of my PCGS PR69DCAM SBAs with just a single reverse to spare some repetition. Some have very scruffy slabs, unfortunately. The 1999 has so many scratches and smears it almost qualifies as a daguerreotype. Hence fate. The 1979 and 1981 are both Type 1s. The Type 2s, not to mention the PR70DCAMs, were just a little too pricey for modern clad coins.

I like the color. It reminds me a little of anodized niobium.

Anyone here collect Full Talon SBA's? I read a monograph on the subject a few years ago, and it was very interesting. The authors defined FT, and then did an analysis by date of FT coins. Some dates are quite scarce!

Thanks for the link! I didn't know it was on smalldollars (although I suppose I should have guessed). The copy I have is a pdf of a version of the same article that was published in the May, 2006 issue of The Numismatist. It's a little more polished, but the same content.

A few months ago, my daughter had to present a Susan B Anthony project to her 5th grade class. I broke open one of my rolls and she gave every kid in her class one. Maybe it inspired a new kid to watch their change? More than likely they bought some gum.

Quite agree, but the 'He Man' Suzy haters seem to prevail upon this forum. Lovely to see some folks who love the old gal. :)
