I recently acquired several old Whitman Lincoln cent coin folders, I found an interesting 69 s that at first glance I thought machine doubling of the date and mint mark but found no other rotation or north south doubling on the coin. I need second, third and any opinions on this. 20200215_091505.jpg

This is mechanical doubling, flat shelflike. The mint marks were hand punched into each die until 1989 on cents. Therefore, true doubled die obverses wouldn’t effect the mint mark until after 1989 on cents.

Thanks. That was my first thought but I couldn't find any other trace of die movement on the rest of the coin. I'll file it under really cool and worthless.

MD or mechanical doubling. It looks flat and shelf like. Welcome to CT.

Thanks, After looking through five Lincoln folders and a bag of wheat cents my wish full thinking raised and rounded those shelves a little. I did find a 1960 D/D SM/LG that I verified on the NGC variety plus page, it's blue with the typical folder thumb print.
