1970s Doubled date or MD?

    I couldn't find this listed as doubled, so I'm assuming this is good example of machine doubling and die wear? 1970scrop.jpg 1970sfullobv.jpg 1970sfullrev.jpg

    Machine Doubling

    the key to older dates is if the "doubling" is both the dates and the mint mark.

    Since the Mint Mark was done by hand on each die you can then extrapolate MD from that basic concept of a similar "shift" of the date/mm doubling area. ie, generally the Date and MM should not be doing the same "shift" as they are two separate processes to the die.
