    JCro57 Making Errors Great Again

My book is finished finally. I am now actively looking to find a publisher. 225 pages.

However, I had to reformat it portrait style instead of the landscape format I wanted.

Anyway, here are two cover proposals. Please tell me which you think is best and why. Please be honest. Personally, I like the dark background best. The other is landscape but I will change it to portrait style if you guys like it better.

I think the new design is much bolder and therefore better.

Not that the original was bad, mind you, but the white-on-black of the new design is vastly superior, in my opinion. Looks good.

The New Design has a more professional look to it.
The Original is a bit Grass Roots.

I like the new design better, but I think you should use the same font as in the original design for your name using all caps. I like the size of your name in the original design better. ~ Chris

Unfortunately i cant use the coin font I made for portrait. The title would have to be almost half the size. I hear ya on that.

Maybe I'm just stupid and don't understand. Why would changing the font on your name have any effect on the title? ~ Chris

I also like the font on the original version better, it's a shame you can't use it for the newer version. The doubling of "error" looks much better in that font. The new version is indeed more striking, but as someone who worked in marketing and communications for a long time, I would say be very cautious about using reverse type. It is much harder to read, and multiple studies show that except for larger, headline-size type, many people do not even attempt to read it. When I get a magazine that has decided to print an article -- or even the first page of an article -- in tiny reverse type, it drives me crazy!

Love the new design. Well done. Did you consider using "erors" in one or both instances?

Yes, the black cover or the New Design.

I like both designs, but strongly prefer the second. I concur with @Keith Twitchell's comment about readability -- the coin font is a clever idea, but I don't think it'll have the effect you want on a book cover.

I also think the bit about altered/counterfeit detection is good to include. I always lean toward including more information in a design, though, so look for other opinions on that.

I like the new design better. It stands out much better albeit, i do prefer the font from the original design.

I vote for the new design. I like the photograph of the coins better as it grabbed my attention right away.

What exactly do you mean by reverse type? Do you mean just smaller lettering than the headline?
