According to CIA Haiti is in Central America. https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/geos/ha.html
Haiti is in North America. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_America Haiti Country in the Caribbean Description Haiti is a Caribbean country that shares the island of Hispaniola with the Dominican Republic to its east. Though it’s still recovering from a 2010 earthquake, many of Haiti's landmarks dating to the early 19th century remain intact. These include Citadelle la Ferrière, a mountaintop fortress, and the nearby ruins of Sans-Souci Palace, the baroque former royal home of King Henry I. Capital: Port-au-Prince Population: 10.98 million (2017) World Bank President: Jovenel Moïse Continent: North America
How Many Countries are in Central America? Belize. Costa Rica. El Salvador. Guatemala. Honduras. Nicaragua. Panama.
There's no fight. Haiti is in North America. It has never been in Central America. I suppose that makes Cuba, Dominican Republic and Jamaica Central American countries as well.
I noticed there wasn't any currency from Uruguay. I brought them back to the States in 1968. I didn't list them all. I also have a Paraguayan Diez Guaranies bill. I got the Uruguayan Diez Peso currency just before I flew out of Montevideo. A friend of mine worked at the local bank. I have two sets of Diez Peso bills in sequential order. One set is 2 bills and the other set is 8 bills. I wasn't a coin or currency collector back then. Stupid me, I taped them in my journal. The top bills have tape marks on them. I doubt the tape marks can be removed. Anyway, at least 8 bills are in pristine condition and the other 2 bills with tape marks are also in pristine condition, except for the tape marks. I bet if I found the right sucker, I might get a dollar or two for the whole collection. It's hard to believe it has been 52 years ago, 2 marriages, 3 children, 11 grandchildren, and 12 dogs and 3 cats. My wife and I now have 2 homes (we inherited one home when her mother passed. We had 3 dogs and she had 4 dogs and 3 cats, so we had to move to her home which is down a dirt road. We love it and the dogs love it. They run to their hearts content. The 3 cats did, but we have another cat that we rescued. We have another building in the back that he stays in. We enclosed the deck for a doggie den. Too much info. Sorry. Let me know what you think about the Uruguay currency.
I guess I'll write to CIA letting them know they're wrong and the guy who wrote on wikipedia from his home (probably in his underwear) is correct. PS. I say this jokingly. Not fighting. I don't really care where Haiti is technically located.
I was in Argentina in 2009 and missed the ferry to Montevideo Uruguay.. So I settled for Colonia. These were my paper currency from there -
Consecutive Serial Numbers on these Colombian notes from the 1970's. They are crisp & uncirculated too!
I bought one of these 5 colones bills in crisp UNC in a gift shop at the Liberia, Costa Rica airport last fall. A beautiful work of art. 20th century Latin American currency in general is some of the most interesting I've seen.
North, Central, and South American notes of the early to mid-20th century are all WONDERFUL and beautiful. American Bank Note Company, Thomas De La Rue, and subsidiaries operated all across the Americas and produced some of the most gorgeous notes ever to exist, in my opinion.
I like the Haitian note with Papa Doc’s portrait, printed right here in the good old US of A. When it comes to exporting things to oppressive Third World dictatorships I suppose banknotes are better than cattle prods.
