Thanks! I saw that -- a great resource to go with OCRE and CRRO.

I won two out of the three lots I bid on, a Septimius Severus denarius as well as a medieval szelag. You'll see them on this board after they have arrived.

Ah ... you must have outbid me for the Severus denarius! I'm glad it's going to a good home!

I've bid in the past and used to enjoy his freestyling auctions, but now I must admit I find them frustrating. He has it hosted on a pretty robust bidding platform, so why not make us of all it's features? It's not that I don't trust him, but I'd like to see what the bids are and actually know if I'm leading or even won in real time.

It was my first time successfully bidding in an FSR auction, and I picked up a nice Lysimachos tetradrachm that has been on my wish list for a while. I'll be sure to post it when it arrives.

I really enjoy the style of the auctions and the ability to get real-time feedback by email on bid status, as well as bidding by email. Well, maybe I'm a bit old fashioned and have a soft spot for Web 1.0 stuff.

Are we talking about the one with the seates Jupiter reverse? If so, yes, that was me – and I'm glad you consider me a good home for this coin!

Very nice! I'm still waiting for an invoice so I know how much to pay. . .

It will be enclosed in the envelope with your coins.

So, Frank trusts us enough to send the coins pre-payment?

I'm putting my payment in the mail tomorrow. Frank is very trusting and ships the coins with an included invoice. Very gentlemanly.

I've only bought from him a couple of times and just didn't remember. I do have to say a year or two ago, I bought a turtle coin from him for ~$100 or so and when I got the envelope it was empty. He believed me and didn't demand payment.

Somewhere on Frank's web page is a list of deadbeats who did not pay. We each can decide whether we see good in people until we have reason not to or fear evil from people for no good reason.

I think he only does that with buyers with whom he has previous experience. Since this was my first time bidding (or winning), he did actually provide me with an invoice first, by email, and I paid it today. I assume that he'll mail my coins out on Tuesday -- I think the post offices are closed on Monday.

My four coins arrived in the mail today, so I guess I was right in my assumption that Frank was going to mail them out on Tuesday. Two days isn't bad! And the coins all look great -- even better than in the photos I posted. So I am very pleased.

I bid on four and got three. Not bad except that the one I most wanted got sniped away at the close of the sale with me leading until then. Had I had any inkling I would have doubled my bid. I hate being vulnerable like that, but that's how he runs it. The coins are here now, but I haven't looked at them yet.

I agree it can be frustrating. But I think the general consensus (and also Frank's advice) is to bid at what you are willing to pay early and see where it lands - you may win or may not.. and your win may be well below your max bid.. but don't count on it.
I was unsuccessful this time... but I was not willing to pay the price. Stuff happens.
