Today I found out that my bank that's located in my building at work carries the new dollar coins. I traded in a 5 dollar bill for a 5 different presidents. Turns out I know the guy, so it'll make the roll searching for this and other things much easier. He even let me know the day they're getting the new 2008 ones, so he's actually saving me the first 2 rolls he can get his hands on. Nothing like networking! -DJ
Well DJ... You should have been there for the Washington release. These coins must have went through hell. I searched four Philly rolls to get only a few almost flawless specimens for my collection. The obverse face of Washington looked like he had been thrown through a plate glass window, the hits were intensive. The following releases, to date, have been much more forgiving in locating quality examples in just one roll alone. I have been having great fun with this series. I gave a BU 2007P set to my supervisor last December, he was quite impressed! This series will be great for the grandkids to learn Americas history "Uniting States". It just maybe enough of an interest to them to get them to actually remember and learn something. Have fun getting all your Presidents and, Keep on Collect!!! Allen
Oh I love em, however, I'll be the first to admit that they're not the best as far as beauty is concerned, but I love the weight of them and the idea of it. I got to looking at them closer last night, and it appears that only one that I got would be worth keeping. I'll post them here later tonight/tomorrow.
Here's How I'm Doing It! It's not a great pic, but this is how I will be collecting them. Five year sets per page, all are Philly's, so I paid face for them. They are all MS65 or better. Some are sweet! I have to buy the Denver's (double face) so I only will be collecting 2 or 3 sets for any given year. I have some extra Philly's, but none of them are anywhere near as good as the sets I've selected to keep. I have great fun with this. I also wish to be able to grade MS coins with great accuracy some day. Inspecting/grading these new releases is has taught me a great deal. I have to say I am ready to finish "this" years set. I want to see the "pages" start to accumulate. Keep on Collecting!!! Allen
