I picked both this up this week as the price was great and wanted to check the experts for what they think these two would grade. Any feedback is welcome. thanks
AFAIK the "proof of the pudding" for a proof coin (or at least a good start) is to look at the edge of the coin. If the edge meets the face of the coin at a 90 degree angle, it is probably a proof. If the edge is chamfered, it's a business strike.
This is also a proof, and nearly the same year, so you can compare to one that is not as Cameo as the one above.
The nickel I can’t call from the pics. but I think it may be a proof like business strike the ihc is not a proof
yes the IHC I knew wasn't a proof. The nickel I wasn't sure. The seller stated it was a proof. I can return it. Any ideas on what the IHC might grade
On the nickel, I am suspicious of the doubling that is visible all the way around the rim. Others will know more about this type of doubling but it does not seem to meet the quality standards for the rim of a proof. The one I posted is PF65.
Something unnatural about the Indian Head if that is a true representation of the color. It may not grade at all. QC.
