What are the future prospects for these "first day" covers. They only produce 50,000 of them. I enjoy them because of the way they are presented and lets face it, they aren't going to bankrupt you. I just wanted to hear other thoughts on them and their predictions on their furture????

And Ill say wow thats nice packaging-

I think you will lose money in the long run unless you find the right buyer in the future-

    Just my (4) half cents-

Since I bought the '07's, they'll probably be worth less by next year:rolleyes:! Have you seen the "signature" series? I really like those better; but of course, again, it's mainly the packaging, and that usually doesn't appreciate much!

Buy 'em because you like them and enjoy collecting them. Don't buy them with the hope of cashing in on a profit few years down the road...never happen.

I never buy a coin with the sole purpose being that it will someday appreciate in value. I collect coins because it is a fun and educational pasttime. That being said everyone hopes that they coins they buy will appreciate in value and that is the root of my question.

I considered the first day covers because I used to collect stamps and it caught my interest but... It really doesn't have any place in my collection since I do not own any like that for coins so I dismissed it. Instead for presidential coins I got the set from west point with walking liberty round and the uncirculated set in its attractive packaging. I have the 2007 and back-ordered 2008 directly from the mint. That is my opinion... but if you really really like the first day covers (and if you use to, or still do) collect stamps, the first day covers would be a hit so go for it! :smile
