Several years ago I got a coin in the mailbox, sent by an online friend quite out of the blue. It was a real world coin quiz.
I didn’t solve the quiz, and I’m not even sure I said thank you for it either. This was at a point in my life where my attention was needed somewhere else than in my coin books and online catalogs.
I’ve felt a bit guilty about it, because it was such a nice thing to do, right? To send a coin from the US and all the way to Norway, just for fun and friendship. I have never forgotten about it.
The coin has been laying in its original flip for years now, deep down in my unsorted world coin departement. As I was going through that, in order to get rid of some coins that are not of interest any more, I found it again today.

Well, @Parthicus , I think I’ve finally fulfilled the quest. You can have your coin back now, if you like. :)

I don’t know what more to say... Post your William II the Good of Sicily here, if you want. :)

Wonderful that you found each other again! CoinTalk rocks. :)

I don't have a William, but here's a Roger II follaro, with Roger looking rather alien:

(obverse and reverse may be the wrong way around)

Coins from medieval Sicily are great fun!

Yes, I think so too. Been away from collecting and discussion boards for a while, and was hoping to find some old friends again.
Parthicus is The Silent Druid of the Near East. He doesn't talk much unless it's pressing that the world needs to know something about an old Parthian coin.
    I like that very much.

    Nice Roger II!

    Hi Svein,

To be completely honest, I don't actually remember sending you that coin  I know that I have sent free coins to some other people, so I am willing to take credit for this one, too, but there is at least some possibility that you have assigned the credit to me in error. I just don't want to accidentally take credit for someone else's good deed.

I like this description very much. Mind if I borrow it for use as a signature?

    Of course you can:)
And yes, it was you who sent it. It's probably been more present in my mind, as I have been thinking "when am I going to answer him about that #%&!$ coin... :inpain:" for ten years. :D

That's a thoughtful gift (and also a nice coin). How nice that the two of you got in touch again!

Here is another William "the Good" coin:
