In the spirit of "Anyone can play", I submit this middle-date large cent. It was slabbed PCGS relatively recently and I have the original paper envelope it was held in for a long time. It is straight-graded and I bought it from a well-known dealer at the last FUN show. Photographs are mine and I think they represent the coin pretty closely. So, what is the slab grade? Your DSC_0056.jpg DSC_0057.jpg comments about that are desired. For those so inclined, please offer your thoughts on EAC Technical and Net Grading.

The poll will be open for two days and I will publish the paper envelope at the end.

    Have fun!

physics-fan3.14 You got any more of them.... prooflikes?

Huh, well here's a type we don't see too often. First, I'll say that's a gorgeous piece of copper, and congrats on making it yours.

This is really, really hard to judge from a single set of photographs. However, your information that she spent time in an envelope is going to push me to say MS. I don't see any flattening, but I do see darker color on the high points. Normally, that would be a key indicator of rub - but in this case, closer contact with the paper will tone it differently.

It is incredibly hard to judge the luster from these pics.

I'm going to WAG a 62, but if the luster is there then it could be 63.

We had eight players for this episode. Thank you to all who participated. The CT average was 60.6 while PCGS graded this coin MS-63. The paper envelope it used to reside in shows an EAC grade of AU-55.
