    Good evening!
Here is a Galba denarius I have attempted to photograph.....still learning, but with a new lens. That is one ugly nose!
Also, do you pros feel its too dark?

    thanks! galba1234.jpg

Thanks, Doug....I don't know if there is a popular convention in posting here or not....I worked like the devil to get the shininess out!

I like the coin, but Galba is one mean looking dude.

Also it looks like the image is elongated. The flan is rounder than that, yes? Nice coin in any case!

Here's an early Spanish mint example. I think yours is also an early western issue, is that right?

You are correct, Sir. There was some elongation as I was resizing the two images and bringing them together....I just didn't realize it at the time....two layers, all that stuff. Not only am I a novice with photography, but also photo manipulation! I took the in RAW format and worked with that.....it felt easier, except they were a bit dark. I can easily change that, but just felt the glare of a really light coin was somewhat harsh on the eye.
As for which mint? You've got me, brother. I am new to all this, I have to say though that I am enjoying this MUCH more than my US coins and the green bean and investment bunch. It's pretty interesting reading up on the emperors. I'm reading Graves translation of Suetonius now.

I don't have a Galba yet. I'm down to him, Otho, and Vitellius to finish the 12 Caesars. I bid on an Alexandrian tet of Galba but was outgunned at the last minute.

I dont have that kind of goal really. I tend to buy the things I like. I can go through an auction and see nothing I like, and I don't bid. Then, sometimes I see something I REALLY like, bid, its going well, right up until the last few minutes when someone swoops in and beats me.....Ive a bid on a nice piece now, we shall see what happens!

@KeviniswhoIam - congrats on the Galba. I look at the 4 Caesars from 69AD in most of the auctions I follow. I have not found one cheep and nice enough to go outside my collecting area to buy..... one day.

You are right, the Galba denarius... has one ugly nose! Mark A normally has an interesting nose. My coin has only a modest nose.

Wise words! I hope to see more of your new coins here soon. :)

Maybe don't do a search for "Kevin" in this forum, though... :nailbiting:

(Hey, psst, everyone... I think we gotta be careful with the "Kevin strikes again" jokes from now on! :bucktooth:)

Nice coin! I have a Tetradrachm of Galba, but not in as good condition as your coin. Hard Emperor to find at an affordable price.
