Check out this auction... although the seller clearly states the 'error' was made outside ther mint and is not real .... i would be willing to bet next week this note will show up on Ebay as a real error... so sad! Link
its too bad that whoever 'created' this 'faux' error, didnt write such on the back of the note... kinda keeping with the hobby protection act ... i am sure it will be posted on Ebay as a genuine error soon enough .... so sad!
I collect error notes like this one, And it has never dawned on me until this thread that someone would actually make an error note of his own. What will people think of next?
Altering currency with the intent of increasing its value is a violation of the counterfeiting laws. While this was intended to deal with raising notes (cutting the corners off a five and putting them on a one), it may also apply to this situation.
