This one is certified by PCGS. Shield has separated lines but they don't show well in the photo. I will post the grade after some responses.

I will add that it looks original. That is a huge plus.

The No-Stars obverse is completely uncluttered with wide open fields. The simplicity is beautiful, much like the Flying Eagle Cent.

I tried to bargain the guy down but he wouldn't budge. I ended up taking the deal because I almost never see these without problems and with choice surfaces. Well, except in AU-55 condition, which tends to run over $2000 : (

His price was actually pretty good too, so I couldn't really turn it down.

And yeah, I like this design for the exact same reason, even more than the flying eagle. I might start to like flying eagles more once I pick up a nice UNC example.

I would say XF but would not be surprised if it was graded AU+.

    PCGS said only VF-35

I thought about VF-30 or VF 35 from the seller pic, IMO XF 40 or a little better in hand.

I would have thought the coin would have graded higher. But, then again, I know almost nothing about these so my opinion is pretty much worthless. :headbang: :p

I picked it up for VF-25 money, so I'm pleased with my purchase even as a 35. Not to mention that I personally think it's a bit better, too.

I too would have thought it would grade higher. There's a lot of nice detail in the obverse. Still, a nice buy.

I think I'd send it off to NGC. The VF35 is not accurate. It has to be an old grading. I'm sure it would come back a 45. Then when I get my fourth party grading service up and running I'll sticker it for you for free. I've also decided to call my Fourth Party Grading Service "VVV" for Verified by Vegas Vic. Look out CaC, here I come. I'm also using the motto "If you send it in, I'll put a sticker on it for you."
